HYPER

About HYPER Robotics:

Quincy Public Schools Team 69 HYPER has been Helping Youth Pursue Engineering and Robotics for over a decade. The 2008-2009 season marks Team HYPER’s 12th year as a partnership between Quincy Public Schools and Gillette. Today the team consists of 46 high school students, eight teachers and several engineers, machinists and technicians from Proctor & Gamble's Gillette division, and more than two-dozen actively involved team alumni. Though all activities center around the robot and competition, Team HYPER has become much more. HYPER is a diverse group of individuals, who are all focused as a team toward one goal: providing an environment for students to test different interests and skills through hands-on experience.

Hyper Team Building

Last summer we got all the teachers and mentors together to figure out a better way to share files and resources. Out of those meetings and working with the students we created an administration area on our website with directories for each of the sub committees on the team. Members can upload files and folders utilizing PHP and FTP, as well as downloading file. This put us in a great position to start off in the fall and have the students signup for those committees that most interest them. During the build session for the engineers one of our students implement Dot Project a MYSQL database that uses a PHP frontend. This product allowed us to put the actual build session in to a project plan giving the Gillette Engineers, Teachers, Mentors and Students capabilities to share, schedule and manage the complete build process.
